Moving Coil Cartridge
The AT33Sa represents a significant development by Audio-Technica as their first moving coil cartridge with a Shibata stylus. Unlike conventional high-performance line contact cartridges, this cartridge is characterized by rich, powerful midrange and bass achieved through the use of the Shibata stylus. The precisely ground needle is mounted on a boron cantilever that features double damping, resulting in a noticeable improvement in sound quality.
An advanced conical shape of the boron cantilever, combined with a reduction in coil windings, contributes to a reduction in the cartridge’s weight. These specific design features optimize the cartridge’s performance and expand the range of sound reproduction.
The neodymium magnet of the AT33Sa possesses remarkable magnetic energy with a BHmax value of 50 (kJ/m3). Supported by a high-quality permendur yoke, the magnet offers high saturation density and excellent magnetic properties, leading to enhanced magnetic field alignment between the coils.
By using PCOCC* wire, the cartridge ensures unadulterated transmission, resulting in transparent and authentic sound reproduction.
