About the Shibata Profile
The Shibata tip features an elongated contact area along the groove walls. Compared to spherical or elliptical styli, it sits deeper and with more surface contact in the groove. This allows for very fine high-frequency resolution, stable tracking at low tracking force, and precise reproduction of complex modulations. Originally developed for quadraphonic sound, this profile is still regarded as exceptionally detailed and low-distortion.
