Stylus Replacement for Playing Shellac Records
The RS78 stylus replacement is specifically designed for the Sumiko MM cartridge systems Rainier, Olympia, Moonstone, Wellfleet, and Amethyst.
- Stylus Cut: Spherical (R 76 μm)
- Recommended Tracking Force: 5 g (within a range of 4-5.5 g)

Upgrade of MM Cartridges
You can easily upgrade your Sumiko MM cartridge by replacing the stylus. Important: All upgradeable cartridges are operated with the same tracking force. After upgrading the stylus, no adjustments are necessary.
Advantages of a Higher-Quality Stylus Replacement:
Lighter stylus bodies, naked or better-cut diamonds, as well as improved polishing of the diamond—regardless of whether working against or with the structure of the diamond crystal lattice—significantly enhance sound quality.
Upgrade Levels of the Sumiko Stylus Series:
- Rainier: Elliptical stylus (r/R 8 x 18 µm)
- Olympia: Better-selected elliptical diamond (r/R 8 x 18 µm)
- Moonstone: Lighter aluminum cantilever, elliptical stylus (r/R 8 x 18 µm)
- Wellfleet: Nude elliptical diamond (r/R 8 x 18 µm)
- Amethyst: Nude line-contact diamond (r/R 5 x 20 µm)
