Description

Ortofon MC X20 – High-Resolution Moving Coil Cartridge

Discover New Dimensions of Sound

The Ortofon MC X20 expands the acclaimed MC X Series with a model that offers improved resolution and finer detail retrieval. Equipped with a nude elliptical diamond stylus, it delivers deep musical insight and reproduces the character of each recording with high precision. The MC X20 is designed for discerning listeners who want to rediscover their vinyl records with enhanced clarity and transparency.

A New Benchmark in Analog Precision

At the heart of analog music playback is the cartridge — where the mechanical signal from the groove is transformed into audio. The MC X Series sets new standards in this conversion process by combining advanced materials with precision manufacturing techniques.

Outstanding Signal Purity with Silver Coil Windings

All MC X Series models feature coils wound with ultra-pure silver wire. This material ensures excellent conductivity and extremely low distortion. Even the finest musical details are preserved – a crucial advantage for authentic, lifelike sound reproduction.

New Magnet System for Maximum Efficiency

The MC X20 benefits from a redesigned magnet structure with a continuous pole core and integrated rear yoke. This improves magnetic efficiency and enhances signal-to-noise ratio. Combined with the pure silver coils, it results in a clean and focused signal path.

Mechanical Damping for Stable Tracking

Damping is handled by Ortofon’s proprietary rubber compound, developed in-house. These rubber suspensions minimize unwanted vibrations, stabilize the cantilever, and enable low-distortion tracking — even in demanding musical passages.

Rigid Core Made of MIM-Formed Stainless Steel

At the cartridge’s center is a honeycomb-structured stainless steel core, produced via Metal Injection Molding (MIM). This design combines mechanical strength with low weight, providing a stable foundation for the moving system. A PVD surface coating enhances hardness and long-term material stability.

Functional Design with Broad Compatibility

The form factor of the MC X20 is purposefully minimalistic and integrates seamlessly with a wide range of tonearms. Its housing reflects Ortofon’s refined design language and highlights the premium build quality without unnecessary embellishment.
