The original replacement stylus for the Ortofon 540 MK II offers the highest precision and detail fidelity in playback. Equipped with a nude diamond and finely cut FG 70 (r/R 5/70 µm), it enables precise and detailed sound reproduction. The narrow contact area provides outstanding resolution and dynamics, making it ideal for audiophiles and lovers of high-end analog sound. Additionally, this cut minimizes wear on both the stylus and vinyl records, making it particularly suitable for discerning music enthusiasts who want to fully exploit the potential of their records.

*FG 70: The FG 70 (van den Hul Type 1 or FG 70) is a highly advanced stylus cut commonly used in high-end cartridges. Designed by A.J. van den Hul, it is considered one of the most sophisticated “line-contact” cuts available. The designation “r/R 5/70 µm” describes the radius of curvature of the stylus: 5 µm is the smaller radius (r) for horizontal groove tracking, while 70 µm is the larger radius (R) for the vertical dimension. This allows for more precise and deeper tracking of the record groove, resulting in improved resolution and detail accuracy.
The FG 70 cut has a very narrow contact area that closely resembles the original master cutting needle, leading to a highly accurate reproduction of the original sound. At the same time, this cut reduces wear on both the stylus and the vinyl record compared to less refined cuts, such as elliptical styluses.
Note: One final stylus is still available in the “Vinyl Master Silver” design. If you prefer this version, please let us know in the comment field during the ordering process.
