Extend the life of your stylus and enhance sound quality at the same time – with STYLAST Stylus Treatment. This specialized solution significantly reduces friction between the stylus and the record groove. The result: lower distortion, improved tracking ability, reduced record wear, and a noticeably longer stylus lifespan.
Application and Yield
Apply STYLAST Stylus Treatment to the stylus tip before playback. One application is sufficient for one side of a record. With regular use, the 7 ml bottle lasts approximately 3 to 4 years.
Effect and Protection
Two factors determine a stylus’s lifespan: wear of the contact surfaces and aging of the suspension. STYLAST addresses both:
- Friction reduction at the contact point:
During playback, the solution transforms into a microscopically thin gas cushion at the stylus tip. This not only reduces friction but also dissipates heat – similar to a molecular-level gas bearing. - Suspension protection:
The elastomers in the suspension degrade over time due to oxidation, heat, or the loss of plasticizers. STYLAST counteracts this by migrating up the cantilever to the suspension, where it acts as a preservative. This helps prevent premature elastomer degradation.
Recommendation
Regular application before each playback is recommended. Additionally, the stylus should be cleaned with an appropriate stylus cleaner (e.g. LAST Stylus Cleaner) whenever visible dirt or mistracking occurs.
