This stylus is a sonically interesting replica by analogis for the original Audio Technica ATN 13 needle in “naked version”. This means that the stylus tip (the synthetically produced black diamond) sits directly in the needle tube without a mount.

These diamonds are made from a cut-to-length synthetic cuboid bar. Viewed under the microscope, you will hardly find an uglier diamond: the sides (not the cut!) are rough, the cut tends to be outside the center of the cuboid (off center cut) and the flanks appear unevenly long as a result. But if you then put the microscope on its side and close your eyes and just listen to the sound, you will see the true beauty of the BLACK DIAMOND series.
